A Trojan that is Making Swiss Banks “WannaCry”

The Retefe banking trojan is now using the EternalBlue exploit that helped spread WannaCry to make attacks more effective. Spigot Inc shares the news. Be careful while traveling as hackers are also using this trojan on hotel wifi. Read more below.

“Unlike other banking trojans, which rely on webinjects to hijack online banking sessions, Retefe routes traffic to and from the target banks through proxy servers hosted on the TOR network. These proxy sites host phishing pages designed to look like the the targeted bank’s login page in order to steal credentials from victims, providing access to accounts for theft and fraud.”

Spigot Inc Takes Taco Tuesday to Another Level… on a Wednesday!

Spigot Inc always looks forward to a catered lunch from 3 Pepper Burrito Co. These guys always have the freshest ingredients, even in the aftermath of Irma. The taco bar never disappoints. We know it’s not Taco Tuesday, but Spigot Inc just put a Wow in Wednesday.

Inspired by lunch, Spigot Inc took things to the next level again! Just as everyone needed that little kick to push through the rest of the day (also blame it on the lunch) the office was serenaded by a Mariachi Band. And that just wasn’t enough, we also had the option to enjoy a margarita! Everyone was surprised, and now more than ever… we have no idea what to expect next at Spigot Inc.

It’s been a crazy couple of weeks due to the hurricane, and Spigot Inc certainly knows how to show their employees that in the midst of the crazy, they want us to stop and enjoy life!

If you want to get in on the next catered lunch or pop up surprise party, review our Spigot Inc career page for more info. Check out what else is happening at Spigot Inc on our blog.

No Cookies for You

Apple plans to disable cookies in Safari 11, Spigot Inc has learned. What does this mean for advertisers?

“The biggest advertising organizations say Apple will “sabotage” the current economic model of the internet with plans to integrate cookie-blocking technology into the new version of Safari.

Six trade groups—the Interactive Advertising Bureau, American Advertising Federation, the Association of National Advertisers, the 4A’s and two others—say they’re “deeply concerned” with Apple’s plans to release a version of the internet browser that overrides and replaces user cookie preferences with a set of Apple-controlled standards. The feature, which is called “Intelligent Tracking Prevention,” limits how advertisers and websites can track users across the internet by putting in place a 24-hour limit on ad retargeting.”

Amazon is Shaking up the Ads Industry – Spigot Inc Explains

There is a lot of talk about Amazon and its power in the search industry at DMEXCO. Spigot Inc shares the announcement from DMEXCO.

“After testing search-based ads with agencies and brands, Kenshoo is making Amazon ads readily available to all marketers through an API integration today. According to Yoav Izhar-Prato, co-founder and CEO of Kenshoo, Amazon could be the hottest new player in search because “whether it’s about brand awareness or down to performance across devices, it just works.”

He added, “People very much underestimate the power and promise that Amazon brings to the table. It is the emergence of brand and performance, and it’s the first time that we’re seeing this coming together. Amazon right out of the gate is speaking very well to those consumer-goods companies that are trying to reach consumers, because Amazon is the solution of choice for the consumer, and what we’ve seen in almost every metric is promising.”

Spigot Inc Wants You to be Prepared – Equifax has been Hacked

Hacks will continue… Spigot Inc wants to share pointers from the NY Times on how to stay prepared.

“Same story, different details: A massive company (this time, Equifax) was breached by hackers, exposing the private information of millions of people to nefarious actors in who-knows-where.

Hacks like these have become an unfortunate hazard of modern society that we have to protect ourselves against. Locking down your digital life does only so much; we are still at the mercy of security systems from the companies that hold our most valuable information. (Still, here are nine easy steps to protect your digital life, and here are the two online security steps you should stop putting off.)”
