Spigot, Inc.  loves celebrating wins, so what better way to celebrate then to push your coworkers into a foam pit or throw dodge balls at their faces (Just kidding, Kind of). Spigot, Inc.’s VP of Emerging Businesses Inspires FGCU Entrepreneurial Students

FGCU’s aspiring entrepreneurs got the opportunity to take a tour of Spigot, Inc. yesterday morning to listen to our VP of Emerging Businesses, Nick Jackson, speak about Spigot, Inc.  He spoke to the FGCU students about Spigot, Inc.’s (and his own) wins and failures that led Spigot, Inc. to where we are today. He told the students that it takes drive, competitiveness and the willingness to fail fast to be successful. The class,  led by Annie Stout – Instructor for Management and Entrepreneurship, also got the chance to talk about their business ideas, receive feedback and even do a mock interview with Spigot, Inc.’s Nicole Wilcox. Afterwards, students lined up in the break room to speak with Nick, share their ideas and find out more about opportunities with Spigot, Inc.

Professor Stout even invited Spigot, Inc. back to speak with their class in the future and said they would be back for another tour next year with a whole new class of Freshman. Spigot, Inc stays involved with FGCU Career Development Services, as they are a huge benefit for students who are preparing to launch their career. Spigot, Inc. President, Ryan Stephens, has also spoken to numerous classes at the college and this certainly will not be the last. Spigot, Inc. is very fortunate to have inspiring leaders that are willing to teach and inspire local students.   Spigot, Inc also participates in career fairs hosted by FGCU, meeting students who are eager to become interns in a fast paced environment where they can learn onsite and possibly grow into a full time position.

Spigot, Inc. Has An Office In The Fastest Growing City In The Midwest

When most people imagine a growing tech city, most think of cities located on one of the coasts. Midwest cities almost never come to mind. Until now.

Kansas City, the largest city in Missouri is only growing and expanding even more. A city once only recognized for mouth-watering BBQ, jazz, breath-taking fountains, and home to fierce football fans, is slowly being recognized in other areas. KC has been dubbed as one of the fastest growing cities in the Midwest. The growth Kansas City is experiencing is balanced and is spread out thoroughly making it ideal for relocation. In the past few years Kansas City has nabbed recognition for its tech and entrepreneur industries. Overall growth is contributing to the economic growth and technology growth and the relocation of tech companies to the humble Midwest city. Potential and hope are alive and well in Kansas City and in the hearts of residents. The lovely city of fountains has seen 157 percent growth in year-over-year listings for tech jobs and is only expected to keep growing and prospering. The city has also grown in population by 6.3 percent in the last seven years according to the census bureau. Our Spigot, Inc. Kansas City office is so lucky to be in the heart of all this growth and innovation in this amazing, colorful city. We can’t wait to see the changes and growth to come to the city as well as grow with it.

Graduating college is definitely bitter-sweet, you’ve finally accomplished your goals – but now what? Luckily for FGCU students in the area, the college provides them with tools to help settle the uncertainty and Spigot, Inc. got the opportunity to be a part of that today. Just a Normal Day at the Office…..and a Giraffe

Fire Dancers, Giant Beer Pong, Yard Games, a DJ, a Bartender AND zoo animals (Yes, you read that right – a giraffe and a zebra) transformed Spigot, Inc. into a circus on Tuesday afternoon. Spigot, Inc. employees were surprised with yet another pop-up party for all the hard work they have put in the last few months and it was definitely something to remember. At Spigot, Inc. we love to push boundaries – so why just limit that to the work day!? Everyone at Spigot, inc. was surprised with a giraffe and zebra being walked into the parking lot – not only were Spigot, Inc. employees surprised, but so was the rest of the plaza! Not only did we have zoo animals, but there were a ton of fun yard games (Kan Jam, Corn Hole, Ladders, Giant Beer Pong and regular Beer Pong) and the Eldr Systirs did an awesome job putting on a performance dancing and swallowing fire. The party didn’t end there though, some of Spigot, Inc. decided to come back into the office and play ping pong, mario and foosball late into the night.

Spigot, Inc. employees work extremely hard and do whatever it takes to make sure we are exceeding our goals.  One of the biggest perks is the appreciation we are given for it. Culture is extremely important to the growth and success of our business and Spigot, Inc. employees are given great opportunities to spend time together in and out of the office and cultivate team building.

If you are looking to join a team with a great culture and outlandish perks Spigot, Inc. would love to speak with you! Send your resume to us at careers@spigot.com and be sure to follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram… like us on Facebook, follow our blog and never miss out on the Spigot, Inc. lifestyle.

Finding Datasets Just Got A Whole Lot Easier Thanks To Google

Just last week, Google released a new type of search engine specifically designed around the idea of helping people find data. It’s named “Dataset Search” and essentially it provides easy access to millions of datasets across thousands of data repositories on the web. Dataset Search is currently for everyone to use with easy access. Google stated the benefits this new launch specifically has for journalists and data scientists “To enable easy access to this data, we launched Dataset Search, so that scientists, data journalists, data geeks, or anyone else can find the data required for their work and their stories, or simply to satisfy their intellectual curiosity.” According to Search Engine Journal, this new Google engine search is largely dependent on the scheema markup for dataset providers that was rolled out in July.

Dataset Search is available in multiple languages and works just like any other search engine. Just type in what you’re looking for and Google will return relevant datasets. Spigot, Inc. KC Loves First Fridays

The first Friday of every month is one of the best days of the month to a Kansas City resident. Why, you might ask? The first Friday of each month marks a fun filled day in the Crossroads Arts District. We at Spigot, Inc. are so lucky to be located right in the heart of the crossroads among the excitement of First Fridays. The streets close down for a day and the event is best traveled on foot. Grinders always hosts live music so look no further if that’s what you’re interested in.  It is truly amazing to see a sea of people walk and talk and enjoy the city we live in and love. Spigot, Inc. is Located In One of the Fastest Growing City’s in the US!

They say location is key, and Spigot, Inc. is fortunate enough to be in a growing FL city! Fort Myers has always been known as a small sleepy town, but recently they have been given the title “One of the Fastest Growing City’s in the US.” With cheap housing, beautiful beaches, warm weather and palm trees – I’m sure you can see why! According to an article in Gulfshore Life, “The net migration rate grew at about 14 percent from 2012 to 2016.” There is a bunch of new construction in the Southwest FL area and new things to do are popping up everyday. Not only does Fort Myers offer a beautiful white sand beach with bars and restaurants in the sand, a popular downtown area, great schools and a few large town centers – Spigot, Inc. is located in driving distance from Naples, Marco Island, Sanibel Island and Captiva. If you’re feeling really adventurous – you can take an hour drive to Siesta Key or Sarasota.

Making the decision to relocate can be tough, but the FL sun and Spigot, Inc.’s amazing perks should make the decision a little bit easier. If you are ready to get out of the cold weather and relocate to Southwest FL, Spigot inc. would love to speak with you! Send your resume to us at careers@spigot.com and be sure to follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram… like us on Facebook and never miss out on the Spigot, Inc. lifestyle.
