Spigot, Inc. Has the Most Creative Costumes for Halloween!

Halloween is always an eventful occasion around Spigot, Inc. and today a few people got really creative with their costumes! The most suiting costumes though, were Erlich Bachman, Richard Hendricks and Gilfoyle from the show Silicon Valley. Everyone thought it was hilarious as Spigot, Inc.’s, Nicole Wilcox, came riding in on a unicorn dressed as Erlich. We also had some other awesome costumes, Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell made an appearance and Nerf Gun Man rode in on his Bird Scooter shooting everyone with Nerf balls. Everyone stayed in character all day, so needless to say there were a lot of Nerf Battles.

Mid-afternoon everyone took a break and enjoyed some Halloween Treats and Wine & Cheese and dipped out early to take their kids trick or treating. Spigot, Inc. really loves their work-hard, play-hard atmosphere especially around the holidays!

If you feel like a creative work-hard, play-hard environment is somewhere you would thrive, send your resume and cover letter to careers@spigot.com for review! Check out all of our adventures on the Spigot Inc blog.

Ryan Stephens, Spigot Inc. President, Engages and Inspires Students

Spigot, Inc. President, Ryan Stephens, spoke to FGCU Entrepreneurial Students yesterday evening and gave them a completely new insight into running a successful business with a competitive culture. He explained to the students about taking big risks and learning hard lessons, but being able to funnel those lessons into something productive. Ryan also stressed the importance of company culture and organization – stating that we organize around business units, so everyone everyday is able to look at their own profit & loss and meaningfully contribute to the organization’s bottom line everyday. He stressed that Spigot focuses on moving numbers up, instead of on processes and that we optimize for smart people that are competitive.

Students were extremely inspired by Ryan’s outlook and way of doing things and immediately starting asking great questions. We even received a thank you note from Professor Annie Stout stating, “Thanks so much for coming in, we appreciate your support for our students!”

Spigot, Inc stays involved with FGCU Career Development Services, as they are a huge benefit for students who are preparing to launch their career. Ryan has spoken to numerous classes at the college and this certainly will not be the last. Spigot, Inc also participates in career fairs hosted by FGCU, meeting students who are eager to become interns in a fast paced environment where they can learn onsite and possibly grow into a full time position.

Happy Friday from Spigot, Inc.!

Casual Friday’s have a whole different meaning at Spigot, Inc.! We love our “work hard, play hard” mentality and after a long work week – you will usually find employees going on a big team lunch together, hanging out in the break room, playing (some seriously competitive) games of Ping Pong or just hanging out at each other’s desks. Spigot, Inc. employees even hang out in the office after work and take advantage of our beer fridge and tons of games in the office. Everyone agrees it’s really great being a part of a company culture where everyone doesn’t run for the hills on Fridays.

According to an article posted by Arkadin, “A work hard, play hard atmosphere builds better companies and  is part of what unites teams to excel, both when working and when playing.” Spigot, Inc. works hard to keep their employees happy; from team building trips, flexible work hours, amazing benefits, company happy hours and a collaborative work environment. The article also states “It’s obvious that organizations with higher employee engagement levels are more likely to see an increase in profit and productivity than those with lower engagement,” and at Spigot, Inc. that couldn’t be closer to the truth.

If this type of company culture seems appealing to you, we would love to speak with you! Send your resume to us at careers@spigot.com and be sure to follow us on LinkedIn, Twitter and Instagram… like us on Facebook and never miss out on the Spigot, Inc. lifestyle.

Spigot, Inc. Pays Chiefs Kingdom A Visit

This past NFL Sunday, the Kansas City Spigot, Inc. team along with several Fort Myers members got the chance to go to the Chiefs vs. Bengals game! There are a few things that Kansas Citians take very seriously and that is: Barbecue, art, and the Chiefs of course! The game was the perfect opportunity to catch up and spend necessary quality time with our fellow team members and show them the ways of the Midwest. Even though it was super cold and our Floridian team members aren’t used to cold weather, we still had an amazing time! The weather was 60 and sunny all day, perfect tail gate weather. What’s better than friends and NFL Sunday and the Chiefs? Nothing! We had amazing seats and got to witness 4 amazing touchdown passes by Patrick Mahomes and his amazing offense.

Here at Spigot, Inc. we are so lucky to do all kinds of fun team building activities like this. It’s so fun to go to each others’ cities and experience the others world for a few days. If you feel like you have the drive and passion to launch your career in a dynamic, entrepreneurial and fast paced culture, Spigot, Inc would like to hear from you. Spigot, Inc. Teaches and Hangs Out With Local STEM Students

Spigot, Inc. was full of excitement this morning as a large group (I don’t even know how they all fit in here) of STEM Students came to learn about different careers in Lee County and see how STEM is involved in every career. Students were extremely engaged by Spigot, Inc.’s, Sean Henry, as he taught students about Spigot’s culture. He touched on the entrepreneurial mindset of Spigot, Inc. employees and how we, as a company, are always looking to win/ improve and have such a strong hunger for knowledge – it no longer seems like work. He told them to let their passion drive learning paths and to focus on what they are good at.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and rather than teach the four disciplines as separate subjects, STEM integrates them into one curriculum based on real-world applications. Students got to learn how all of these apply in a real world setting at Spigot, Inc. One of Spigot, Inc.’s graphic designers (Elina Terentyeva) taught the students how graphic design impacts potentials products and they even got to see a live app demonstration of one of our applications.

Dunbar’s STEM students got an opportunity to have Moe’s Grill for lunch with Spigot, Inc. employees and even battle at Mario Kart! Overall it was an extremely impactful visit for both parties. Thanks so much, Sean Henry, for organizing this! We can’t wait for their next visit.

If you think you have what it takes to join an innovative and entrepreneurial minded company – Spigot, Inc. would love to speak with you! Send your resume and cover letter to careers@spigot.com for review! Scammers Trick iPhone Users into Downloading Expensive Apps

iPhone users surfing the app store generally think that they are safe, but it turns out recently scammers have found a way around Apples “secure” user interface and are tricking customers into downloading free applications that actually have extremely pricey subscriptions. According to an article in Tech Crunch, “They do this by intentionally confusing users with their app’s design and flow, by making promises of “free trials” that convert after only a matter of days, and other misleading tactics.”

According to an article posted in Business Insider, “The No. 69 top-grossing app on the United States App Store was called Scanner App. It used your iPhone’s camera to scan documents, and it worked — but it cost as much $4 per week, or over $200 per year, and wasn’t honest about signing people up for the recurring bill, according to user reviews.”

Apple soon will have a huge influx of unhappy customers on their hands if they don’t make a change and it looks like they may be forced to.

If you want to read more about this, Forbes and Mashable also wrote articles giving iPhone users a heads up to search and download more carefully!

Spigot, Inc. Takes Over Cyprus

Who ever said business and fun don’t mix? Here at Spigot, Inc., we completely disagree! Some of our very own Spigot, Inc. employees were granted the opportunity to travel to some amazing places and see some amazing sights while working. It’s important for us to keep positive and strong relations with our fellow Spigot, Inc. team members in different countries. This not only allows for strong, positive relationships, it also allows us to really delve and immerse ourselves into different cultures, step outside our comfort zones and try new and exciting things.  This month, one of our very own traveled all the way to Cyprus and got to experience first-hand the breath-taking view of the Mediterranean, try different exotic food and drink, and explored various touristy spots like the beautiful beach of Farmagusta, where guests can take a dip in the Mediterranean or just sit back, relax and enjoy a cocktail. They also went to see the beautiful overlook at Aphrodite’s Rock. Team members also got to explore Bucharest, Romania as well.

Google has had an extremely busy week with the unveiling of a plethora of new products. Those new products including their highly anticipated smartphone, the Pixel 3. In spite of the numerous attempted internet leaks surrounding the release of the Pixel 3, Google still managed to pull out a few tricks from their sleeves during the unveiling. Along with the Pixel 3, we also witnessed the release of the Chrome-OS powered tablet (aka the Pixel Slate), and a new google Home with a screen called the Home Hub.
