Spigot, Inc. Visits Rosy Tomorrow’s!

Spigot, Inc. employees are always going on some kind of adventure – and last week our Push Team got the opportunity to take a trip into North Fort Myers to Rosy Tomorrow’s heritage farm for lunch.  All of the food is served fresh straight from the animals and plants raised on the farm. Not only is their food delicious, but they pair it with the seasons so the crew got to experience all of their fall dishes, along with their amazing wines and desserts. Usually our team events include some type of competition and games, but this time it was a nice change of pace to just mingle outside with the team and enjoy the weather and animals (But don’t worry, everyone came back to the office and played a super competitive game of darts).

One of the best parts about working for Spigot, Inc. is the opportunity we have for collaboration and team building. We love celebrating small and big wins and just showing appreciation for all the hard work our employees put in. Team building trips, dinners, lunches and just fun in the office are a big part of our success. Of this culture is something you think you would be a good fit for, we would love to speak with you!

KC19DC Was a Success and We Even Found Recruits!

Spigot, Inc. had a great time at the KCDC conference last week! For the past few years Spigot, Inc. has been sending developers, but this year we got the opportunity to not only send some of our developers – but to send one of our recruiters AND sponsor a booth!

Not only did Spigot, Inc. have the best swag, but we also challenged some of the developers to get it. One hot item in particular was red bull, so we asked them to ask for a red bull in code!

On top of meeting great people, some of our development teams were able to go and listen to guest speakers, participate in workshops and (of course) enjoy some delicious KC BBQ.

Overall it was a very successful shows – we met some potential new members of the Spigot family, got to know some of the event founders and set up plans for next year to not only sponsor the event again, but also potentially speak at the event!

Taco Tuesday on a Wednesday!

If you follow Spigot, Inc., you have probably already noticed we like to go rogue – so today we had Taco Tuesday on a Wednesday! You also probably realized that there has been a ton of posts about food lately. That’s because we LOVE to eat and we love our FREE (that’s right, absolutely free) lunches every Monday and Wednesday even more. Not only do we get to eat delicious food, catered from local restaurants and chains in Fort Myers, we are able to socialize and eat  together as a team. Today’s Taco Wednesday was catered by Three Peppers Burrito. Three Peppers came in and set up a taco bar for the office to enjoy, and as you can see from the line (and how much fun everyone is having in the pictures) – it was a hit!

Three Peppers has a variety of delicious food to try, but today we got to create our own tacos from their catered taco bar. We had both crunchy and hard shells, home-made guac, a variety of salsas, choices of jasmine or brown rice AND a ton of toppings, just look at them all!

We love getting creative at Spigot, Inc. and this was the perfect way to blend our love for food, socializing AND creativity. If you feel like you are a creative individual and have what it takes to launch your career in dynamic and laid back culture, Spigot, Inc would like to speak with you.

Slack Mobile Gets a Dark Mode

Spigot, Inc. is really big on communication and collaboration and one of the ways we communicate is  Slack. Everyone has it on their phones and laptops and we’re all part of a ton of channels based on team and location where we can all keep in touch and make sure our products are running! Slack is about to get even better and  announced that it is starting to test a dark mode for users, joining others, like the mail app for Windows 10 and Facebook Messenger. It’s not available to everyone just yet, but it is rolling out to beta testers.

9to5Mac and 9to5Google spotted the iOS and Android updates, noting that the feature is currently being tested, and helpfully points out how to activate it for yourself. To get it now, you have to be part of Slack’s beta testing program which is something you can join. You can join by heading over to the app’s settings, and scroll down to the “Join Beta” section, which prompts you to provide your name and e-mail address. Once approved and you update your app accordingly, you’ll then have a toggle that will allow you to turn the mode on in settings. 9to5Google says that the Android app will prompt you to restart the app, whereas the iOS version will automatically switch.

An Android Q leak earlier this year revealed that Google is planning to roll out a system-wide dark mode, while a developer build revealed last month that Google Chrome will also get the option later this spring. The feature is increasingly popular with users, as it helps conserve one’s battery life, and it’s a bit easier on your eyes — not a trivial thing if you’re on Slack day in and day out during the work week.

Three on Three Ping Pong

Ping Pong is so popular at Spigot, Inc. that employees are now playing 3 on 3 ping pong! Players have to rotate hitting the ball between 3 people instead of two like the traditional game of doubles and it gets intense. Looks like it’s time for Spigot to get another ping pong table! As you can see behind the table there is a giant white board – and of course, that’s used to keep everyone’s scores (Yes – we’re also all super competitive). A huge perk to working for Spigot, Inc. is the abundance of games we have in the office. Everyone is extremely competitive and there is something for everyone here. In addition to ping pong, there is 2 foosball tables, a dart board, Mario Kart, Super Smash Brothers and X-boxes and we’re always adding more!

Spigot, Inc. truly believes that breaks increase productivity, and getting mentally stuck is a road that leads to nowhere, so everyone is encouraged to take breaks when needed, so these games are a big contributor to our success.
