Spigot, Inc. & Sister Company Employees are ALL Working From Home – Do We Like it or Hate it?!

Due to the Coronavirus Spigot, Inc. and our sister companies decided starting yesterday that the smartest approach would be to close our offices and have all employees work from home in “self isolation.” In general, Spigot, Inc. employees spend a great deal of time with one another in and outside of work – and working on each other’s computers collaborating, so we thought it would be best to shut down the offices. NO – we aren’t crazy, but we definitely don’t want to contribute to the medical facilities being overrun by sick patients like stated in this article and graph. Florida is slowly closing down all their public places, as of right now public school, bars and nightclubs are all on a mandatory close – so Spigot, Inc. employees staying home as much as possible is 70 less people to spread the virus!

The real question though is – do we like it or hate it?! Sure, working from home is nice – and I don’t think any of us have reached talking to a volley ball status yet BUT the consensus seems to be – we’d rather be in the office! When Spigot, Inc. employees were notified of the closure there were tons of complaints of not being able to collaborate and general boredom. Some Spigot, Inc. employees, however, have enjoyed their time home with their pets and swimming pools – as seen in the photos!

Spigot, Inc. employees are extremely fortunate to work for a company that is internet based and fully functional remotely. We are also fortunate that every enjoys coming into the office so much they were disappointed we were closing! If you want to work for a company where the employees are happy and values their employees health/well-being you’ve come to the right place! Send your resume to careers@spigot.com for review! Spigot, Inc. Tests Out the New Fort Myers Restaurant the Slurping Dragon

Today, a group of Spigot, Inc. girls tested out the new restaurant,The Slurping Dragon, in Fort Myers. Slurping Dragon is a new Ramen/Poke restaurant, and at first we were all a little apprehensive but it did NOT disappoint! Not only do they have awesome ramen soup bowls, they have a “build your own” poke bowl station and a ton of wok bowls. Everyone tried out different things – and you can just tell by the pictures, it was all delicious!

After we ate, we got the opportunity to talk to the owner and found out that he used to cater for us when he owned a different restaurant! It was great catching up with him, AND now have a new restaurant to cater Spigot, Inc.’s free lunch! The owner even told us he would hand deliver the meals himself.

Overall – the Spigot, Inc. consensus is, we love the Slurping Dragon, will definitely be back AND recommend anyone reading this should try it out! Check out their menu!

If you want to work for a company that loves supporting local businesses AND has FREE lunch twice a week – Spigot, Inc. would love to chat with you! Send your resume and cover letter to careers@spigot.com for review! Taco Tuesday on a Wednesday!

If you follow Spigot, Inc., you have probably already noticed we like to go rogue – so today we had Taco Tuesday on a Wednesday! You also probably realized that there has been a ton of posts about food lately. That’s because we LOVE to eat and we love our FREE (that’s right, absolutely free) lunches every Monday and Wednesday even more. Not only do we get to eat delicious food, catered from local restaurants and chains in Fort Myers, we are able to socialize and eat  together as a team. Today’s Taco Wednesday was catered by Three Peppers Burrito. Three Peppers came in and set up a taco bar for the office to enjoy, and as you can see from the line (and how much fun everyone is having in the pictures) – it was a hit!

Three Peppers has a variety of delicious food to try, but today we got to create our own tacos from their catered taco bar. We had both crunchy and hard shells, home-made guac, a variety of salsas, choices of jasmine or brown rice AND a ton of toppings, just look at them all!

We love getting creative at Spigot, Inc. and this was the perfect way to blend our love for food, socializing AND creativity. If you feel like you are a creative individual and have what it takes to launch your career in dynamic and laid back culture, Spigot, Inc would like to speak with you.

Renovations Under Way at Spigot, Inc.!

What happens when you give a bunch of Spigot, Inc. employees boxes to pack for renovations? They make a fort and pile them to the ceiling (of course). We have been anxiously anticipating our new office – renovations started a few weeks ago and will be completed in April. Our office is almost completely empty and for the next two weeks everyone is either travelling, working from our other offices, taking vacations or working from home!

Not only are we getting some serious upgrades to our office, we’re redesigning our logo, getting new signs/swag, 100 standing desks and a whole new kitchen! Stay tuned to see the final result!

Another Team Outing: Romanian Team goes on a FL Adventure

As Spigot, Inc. grows – so do our teams and the frequency of our visitors from offices in our other locations (which means more team outings!) In the past year we have hired over 20 people and are looking to add another 50 employees this year. We often have company-wide happy hours and pop-up parties to celebrate wins or welcome new employees, but our individual teams have grown so much that they also have their own team outings and team celebrations.

Last week we had visitors from our Romanian office and we took them on an airboat ride at Corey Billie’s Airboat Tours in the everglades (a real Floridian Adventure). Everyone had a great time seeing all the alligators out in the everglades and doing 360’s on the boat! After the boat ride everyone got the opportunity to hold a baby alligator.

Team outings and team building are a large part of Spigot, Inc.’s success. Employee happiness comes first, so Spigot, Inc. does everything to make sure we enjoy working together and coming to work everyday so fun team building activities are a must.

If awesome company culture and team outings are something you are looking for in your next career move, we would love to hear from you! Send your resume and cover letter to careers@spigot.com for review! Check out all of our adventures on the Spigot Inc blog.

Ryan Stephens, Spigot Inc. President, Engages and Inspires Students

Spigot, Inc. President, Ryan Stephens, spoke to FGCU Entrepreneurial Students yesterday evening and gave them a completely new insight into running a successful business with a competitive culture. He explained to the students about taking big risks and learning hard lessons, but being able to funnel those lessons into something productive. Ryan also stressed the importance of company culture and organization – stating that we organize around business units, so everyone everyday is able to look at their own profit & loss and meaningfully contribute to the organization’s bottom line everyday. He stressed that Spigot focuses on moving numbers up, instead of on processes and that we optimize for smart people that are competitive.

Students were extremely inspired by Ryan’s outlook and way of doing things and immediately starting asking great questions. We even received a thank you note from Professor Annie Stout stating, “Thanks so much for coming in, we appreciate your support for our students!”

Spigot, Inc stays involved with FGCU Career Development Services, as they are a huge benefit for students who are preparing to launch their career. Ryan has spoken to numerous classes at the college and this certainly will not be the last. Spigot, Inc also participates in career fairs hosted by FGCU, meeting students who are eager to become interns in a fast paced environment where they can learn onsite and possibly grow into a full time position.
