Spigot, Inc. Virtual Trivia Happy Hour = Big Success

Update: Week 6 on lock down – Spigot, Inc. is still working from home! If you follow our blog, you know that we frequently have parties, hang out with one another outside of the office, travel together and participate in team building events. We’ve decided to keep that going, but virtually! So last week – Spigot, Inc. put together a Spigot, Inc. Virtual Happy Hour for all employees to attend! We had a total of around 30 employees and 5 teams participate in the event. It was hosted through Zoom by Trivia Mafia – and was a BLAST! Not only was it fun to see one another in a group setting again, we got to compete – and there were even prizes at stake!

Trivia Mafia did a great job organizing the game. They helped us set up teams by using a Zoom registration. Once the teams were set up, we were all sent a Google forms document to fill in our answers. The host of the show read all 5 questions for the round, and then sent us off into Zoom “break-out” rooms to discuss our answers. We were given 5 minutes to submit our answers and then the host pulled us all back into the same room to let us trash talk (lol) – and read us the next set of questions.

The game was VERY close, and the questions were challenging – but fun! We will definitely be doing this again, and participating in their private online hosted events!

Spigot, Inc. really loves investing in their people – and creating a team and “fun” environment is one way we accomplish that. As we are in quarantine, we are continually looking for ways to promote comradery. This definitely won’t be our last “virtual” team event! Stay tuned to see what other fun things we’re up to!

Spigot, Inc. & Sister Company Employees are ALL Working From Home – Do We Like it or Hate it?!

Due to the Coronavirus Spigot, Inc. and our sister companies decided starting yesterday that the smartest approach would be to close our offices and have all employees work from home in “self isolation.” In general, Spigot, Inc. employees spend a great deal of time with one another in and outside of work – and working on each other’s computers collaborating, so we thought it would be best to shut down the offices. NO – we aren’t crazy, but we definitely don’t want to contribute to the medical facilities being overrun by sick patients like stated in this article and graph. Florida is slowly closing down all their public places, as of right now public school, bars and nightclubs are all on a mandatory close – so Spigot, Inc. employees staying home as much as possible is 70 less people to spread the virus!

The real question though is – do we like it or hate it?! Sure, working from home is nice – and I don’t think any of us have reached talking to a volley ball status yet BUT the consensus seems to be – we’d rather be in the office! When Spigot, Inc. employees were notified of the closure there were tons of complaints of not being able to collaborate and general boredom. Some Spigot, Inc. employees, however, have enjoyed their time home with their pets and swimming pools – as seen in the photos!

Spigot, Inc. employees are extremely fortunate to work for a company that is internet based and fully functional remotely. We are also fortunate that every enjoys coming into the office so much they were disappointed we were closing! If you want to work for a company where the employees are happy and values their employees health/well-being you’ve come to the right place! Send your resume to careers@spigot.com for review! Spigot, Inc. Travels to China for 5th Annual Genimous Party!

For those of you just tuning into the Spigot, Inc. blog – Spigot, Inc. is owned by a parent company in Beijing, China called Genimous Technologies. Every year a group from Spigot, Inc. (and our sister companies) are invited to make the long (and totally worth it) haul out to China and attend the party. The beginning of the party consists of a huge stage with a ton of live entertainment, recognition for outstanding players and just overall fun.

The party takes place in Genimous headquarters. Visiting the HQ is definitely a unique experience! It is set in 400-year-old Palace that was built for the 24th son of the Emperor Kangxi, who is considered by historians to be one of the greatest emperors in the history of China.  The HQ palace consists of 5 courtyards surrounded by buildings – which have now been converted into offices, conference rooms and banquet halls. It is currently home to over 300 of our 900 employees. It has a fully operating restaurant and hotel onsite with 8 rooms (which guests are invited to stay in!) and they are all crammed with Ming and Qing dynasty furniture to keep with the traditional theme. Genimous took over the palace from the former China Club Beijing.

Not only do Spigot, Inc. employees get the opportunity to celebrate with every year with Genimous – it gives them an opportunity to go over yearly goals, improvements and structure for the upcoming year.

We have a great relationship with our parent company, and really appreciate the opportunities we get to travel and see other parts of the world! If you want to be a part of a global company that promotes team-work and travel – Spigot, Inc. would LOVE to speak with you!

Spigot, Inc. loves celebrating small wins and goal benchmarks! Over a year ago the Spigot, Inc. Mobile Team was promised if they hit a certain number in revenue they would be able to get a visit from our Graphic Designer’s dog, Kevin (Yes, he has a human name). Kev brightened everyone’s day by sitting in meetings, rolling around the carpet, sitting at Spigot, Inc. employees desks and even eating lunch with everyone! The day he came in Spigot, Inc. happened to have Currie’s food truck catering lunch and they threw him some food from the window!

Dartboards!

Spigot, Inc. added yet ANOTHER addition to our office – two professional tier Winmau dartboards! Not only did we get the best boards, we also ordered special professional darts from the Darts Corner in the United Kingdom (Yes, we have to have the best of everything). Aside from Ping-Pong – it has become the most popular game in the office. At all times of the day there is a crowd of people playing and watching. Cricket, Cut-throat and Baseball have been the games of choice! Everyone’s skill levels are improving quickly – as you can see!
