Ice Cream Cone Competition

If you follow our blog – you know everything is a competition at Spigot, Inc.! Today a few employees got together and took a walk to Jason’s Deli and (of course) free ice cream turned into a competition. Jason’s deli has a self-serve  ice cream machine and it was a contest to see who could make the best looking and tallest soft-serve ice cream. Ryan Preiner won with flying colors! Team outings and friendly competition are a huge part of our culture – fun games inside and outside the office make the work days fun and more successful. Breaks are welcome and necessary because getting stuck or burnt out isn’t productive.

Happy Chinese New Year from Spigot, Inc.!

With Spigot, Inc.’s parent company Genimous being based out of China – the Chinese New Year is very significant to us! Last month a handful of Spigot, Inc. employees got the opportunity to travel to China and celebrate! While they were there (and everytime they go to China) they get to try out a variety of different foods. According to Chinesenewyear.net “Food is one of the things that the Chinese take the most pride in. And of course, lot of care and thought is put into the menu for the most important holiday of the year. As with Chinese New Year activities and decorations, the dishes are created to give blessings for the next year. Both the names and looks are symbols of wishes for prosperity, happiness and auspiciousness.”

Even though it wasn’t 100% authentic – Spigot, Inc. got the opportunity to eat Chinese food and hang out together today in honor of the new year!

Spigot, Inc. Has the Most Creative Costumes for Halloween!

Halloween is always an eventful occasion around Spigot, Inc. and today a few people got really creative with their costumes! The most suiting costumes though, were Erlich Bachman, Richard Hendricks and Gilfoyle from the show Silicon Valley. Everyone thought it was hilarious as Spigot, Inc.’s, Nicole Wilcox, came riding in on a unicorn dressed as Erlich. We also had some other awesome costumes, Zack Morris from Saved by the Bell made an appearance and Nerf Gun Man rode in on his Bird Scooter shooting everyone with Nerf balls. Everyone stayed in character all day, so needless to say there were a lot of Nerf Battles.

Mid-afternoon everyone took a break and enjoyed some Halloween Treats and Wine & Cheese and dipped out early to take their kids trick or treating. Spigot, Inc. really loves their work-hard, play-hard atmosphere especially around the holidays!

Spigot, Inc. Teaches and Hangs Out With Local STEM Students

Spigot, Inc. was full of excitement this morning as a large group (I don’t even know how they all fit in here) of STEM Students came to learn about different careers in Lee County and see how STEM is involved in every career. Students were extremely engaged by Spigot, Inc.’s, Sean Henry, as he taught students about Spigot’s culture. He touched on the entrepreneurial mindset of Spigot, Inc. employees and how we, as a company, are always looking to win/ improve and have such a strong hunger for knowledge – it no longer seems like work. He told them to let their passion drive learning paths and to focus on what they are good at.

STEM is a curriculum based on the idea of educating students in four specific disciplines (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and rather than teach the four disciplines as separate subjects, STEM integrates them into one curriculum based on real-world applications. Students got to learn how all of these apply in a real world setting at Spigot, Inc. One of Spigot, Inc.’s graphic designers (Elina Terentyeva) taught the students how graphic design impacts potentials products and they even got to see a live app demonstration of one of our applications.

Dunbar’s STEM students got an opportunity to have Moe’s Grill for lunch with Spigot, Inc. employees and even battle at Mario Kart! Overall it was an extremely impactful visit for both parties. Thanks so much, Sean Henry, for organizing this! We can’t wait for their next visit.

If you follow our blog, you know Spigot, Inc. loves food and definitely love a good food truck! Last night Fort Myers Brewing Company had a live band and food truck night so a group of Spigot, Inc. employees decided to make an impromptu trip. Spigot, Inc. employees enjoy each other’s company so much that we even hang out after work! There was an awesome live band playing outside for a few hours, a ton of people and a handful of delicious food trucks. Spigot, Inc. employees loved the Nonno Gino food truck in particular – we had some AMAZING meatballs!  Fort Myers Brewing company is particularly cool because they allow you to bring in your dogs AND they have throw back arcade games.

Spigot, Inc. Takes Birthdays, But Mostly Pranks Very Seriously

Ever walk into work and some things just aren’t the way you put them? Well today at Spigot, Inc., one of our employees came to find their desk completely wrapped in wrapping paper for his birthday. A few members from his team took him out for a birthday lunch, while others got to work. Not only was the entire desk wrapped (lol, yes the whole desk), so were the monitors, key board, mouse, mouse pad, water bottle, pens and anything else possible Spigot, Inc. employees could find to wrap! Too add to it, he doesn’t particularly care for Kevin Costner – so we had an entire cake of his face made and decorated his entire desk with photos (and some secret ones hidden in his stuff too).

At Spigot, Inc. we have the “work hard, play hard” mindset. Pranking each other, celebrating birthdays, friendly (and sometimes aggressive) competitions, games in the office and team outings are really important to our culture and we believe it makes us more successful.
